I haven't blogged since June... holy cow its been a while hu!
Ohh well, I'm here now!

Too much has been going on lately...
...the Mister and I moved in together (very exciting)
...got a new job at work (stressful but it came with a nice pay raise yeah buddy)
...we got a cat, Doris (love her)
...my healthy living diet is non-existent

Which reminds me...

So I got super excited recently when i got sucked into an infomercial and bought The Health Master.
This thing makes smoothies, juices, ice cream, HOT soup... all sorts of awesomeness... So it took 3 weeks to get here (which felt like an eternity) I have the machine for 2 weeks, I get to make 2 soups and 2 batches of juice and yesterday morning the damn motor takes a shit! Ahhhh I'm so bummed! I called customer service and I can send it back and they will send me a new one... all for free. Which is awesome but I don't wanna wait around anymore! I want to make juice! Dang

...Ohhh hummus I heart you...

I'm on a huge hummus kick right now! Lately I've been struggling to finding a good, satisfying, not too filling, low calorie lunch. I was cruzing around facebook the other day and I came across someone who said they do whole wheat toast and hummus for lunch which got me thinking. Hummus, whole wheat bagel thin and some sort of raw veggie... ummmm perfect!!

Store bought vs. homemade? Homemade is the winner for me for sure. My boyfriend loves everything pumpkin so a couple months ago I tried a pumpkin hummus recipe from The Broccoli Hut and we both fell in love.

This week I started my new lunch adventure with a similar pumpkin recipe but of course with my spaztastic kitchen antics its impossible for me to follow any recipe correctly. =P

My newest version and by far my favorite one to date is as follows...
Pumpkin Hummus
1 can of chickpeas
1 can of pumpkin puree
1 T tahini
1 T pine nuts
4 garlic cloves (minced)
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp paprika

Blend together and viola... pumpkin hummus heaven!
*This recipe is heavy on the garlic as you can see... you may want to cut back on the garlic cloves if you like a tame garlic flavor in your hummus! The mister and I are huge garlic freaks so the more the better for us :)

I'm pretty sure I've stumbled onto the perfect lunch for me! With a small container of greek yogurt waiting for me in the fridge for a 2 o'clock snack I'll be good to go till dinner! Next week I'm gonna make some sort of Apple Pie Hummus. Not sure how this one will turn out but if its good I'll post a recipe for sure :)

So as you can see a while ago I seriously gave up even trying to update this thing! I was working 2 jobs, trying to work out as much as possible, hang out with the boyfriend, clean the house, hang out with the chinchilla and cook as much as i possible could!! Holy busy Alyssa! Well the only thing thats different now is that I quit my second job! Super exciting, I know! Ive been a one job working gal for about a month now but I cant seem to get into the swing of things! I was very excited thinking about all the things id be able to do in my new free time but now that I have it I am just a lazy lazy bum! I am hoping I snap out of it soon.

So much has gone on in the past couple months...

Heres some picture lovin for the time being and heres hoping I continue to update on a regular now that I'm a free woman :)

...food... always cookin and eatin... mexican swiss chard rolls...bbq tofu, collards and potatoes... an awesome stir fry and produce from the Dunedin Harvest Co-op

...boyfriend and I went to the local park last weekend and had a nice picnic and read on a lovely Sunday...(notice the cookbook im reading, like i said... always cookin and eatin and dreaming of food)

i am one of the palest girls i know and my boyfriend hates the beach but ive been thinking about it a lot lately!!! the sun, the water, fruity dranks, good times with friends, laying in the sand. i need a beach day ASAP!

i dont even go for the tan... i end up using spf 70 a couple times during the day!
BUT i do love being outside, i think thats why ive been craving it... i am officially over the winter and ready to be out and about and enjoy this FL weather

i love all sushi with avocado on it and my dad loves all sushi with extra sesame seeds on them.
my step mom recently bought my dad a kit to make homemade sushi. my dad is a bit skeptical but i cant wait to try it out!

local vs. organic veggies

i can only seem to find one or the other around here...

i got super super excited when i started going to a yoga studio by my house that offers an organic veggie co-op. i mean SUPER excited!!! only to look through my bin once i got my share to find that most of the fruits and veggies were from california and the blueberries where from flippin mexico!!! that put a damper on my day for sure! for some reason i had it stuck in my head that it was going to be filled with fruits and veggies from LOCAL ORGANIC farms.

either way i got to thinking "well atleast they are organic" because in the battle of local verse organic, organic is always going to win for me because im putting these fruits and veggies into my body and they better not have a shit ton of chemicals on them! so i decided to continue with the veggie co-op.

literally the next day my cousin runs into my office to tell me about the groupon of the day. it was for a company called amys fresh. they go around to local farms collecting up friuts and veggies and they deliver your order straight to your front door. local farms! this chick was super excited again! well until i realized they didnt have any organic veggies! AHHHH

BUT last week they added an organic basket. for $34 they will deliver 7 different fruits and/or veggies straight to your door step! the thing i like about this company aside from LOCAL and ORGANIC is that you get to pick and choose what you want in your delivery. of course since its local if they dont have an item you want they will substitute something else similar. my first delivery is next thursday i hope i dont get disappointed like last time but things are looking really promising so far!

my best friends wedding was this past weekend so ive been on a "diet" well more of an eat healthy and be good diet but a diet non the less!!! so next week im going on an eat yummy stuff all day diet!!! haha im going on vacation starting friday so ive decided boyfriend and i are gonna eat and cook whatever we want! dont get me wrong i do love healthy food so my lets get crazy diet may include homemade tacos and pizza!!! crazy i know =P

Ive been rearranging my house the last couple days and I am super excited about it. Operation declutter and beautify the house is in full effect.
The next step is to get rid of some furniture I haven't used in a while so i can put a teepee up in the back section of my house. I have this area that could be for an office in the back of my house. It has a desk and an awkward DIY bookshelf that I made out of a side table and a hutch. I love watching TV when i'm on the internet so I haven't used my desk in over a year, I usually sit on the floor or couch while i'm on the internet. So i'm getting rid of my desk, and I don't really need my funky bookshelf either cause I have another bookshelf in the house plus a broken ladder that I use as a bookshelf. So I get to donate those pieces too. This move leaves the whole "office" area empty and perfect for my teepee! I cant wait to start working on it!
After I get it put up and secure i'll need to find floor cushions and pillows and blankets for inside! It will be the perfect reading corner! Maybe it will help me read more! haha

What is one food you thought you’d miss when you went vegetarian, but don’t?

Chicken. I use to love fried chicken tenders. When I first cut meat out of my diet I use to walk through the grocery store and smell that yummy chicken and wish I could just have one bite. I still smell it and yes it still smells good but i dont miss it at all.

What is a food or dish you wouldn’t touch as a child, but enjoy now?
I grew up eating lots of veggies so I pretty much liked everything my mom made. One thing i do enjoy now are kalamata olives. Ive always hated olives and still hate green and black, But kalamata... now those are delicious!

What vegetarian dish or food you feel like you “should” like, but don’t?
Large slices of eggplant and portobello mushrooms. I can eat diced of either one but when it comes to large slices I dont like how "meaty" they are.

Im diggin this recipe tho... eggplant "meatballs" YUM

What beverage do you consume the most of on any given day?
H2O

What dish are you “famous” for making or bringing to gatherings?
I like to make a variety of things. I guess my most popular dishes would be my pasta salad and merlot sangria. Recently I made the most delicious hot artichoke and spinach dip. I cant wait to make that again.

Do you have any self-imposed food rules (like no food touching on the plate or no nuts in sweets)?
Not really. I will try anything twice. The second time is to make sure I dont like something before dismissing it from my life completely.

What’s one food or dish you tend to eat too much of when you have it in your home?
Cheese and Ice Cream. I try not to buy either one on a regular so I'm not tempted!

What ingredient or food do you prefer to make yourself despite it being widely available prepackaged?
Hummus. I love homemade hummus. Homemade tastes much better in my opinion!

What ingredient or food is worth spending the extra money to get “the good stuff”?
Organic produce for sure... And I love a good quality olive oil. I'll also splurge on good quality cheese (when I give in and buy some)

Are you much of a snacker? What are your favorite snacks?
I'm not much of a snacker. But my sister bought these salt and vinegar almonds that are amazing! I'm diggin those at the moment.

What are your favorite pizza toppings?
Mostly I love plain ole cheese. When I'm feelin crazy I like spinach, tomato and feta on my pizza.

What is your favorite vegetable? Fruit?
Veggie: Tomatoes
Fruit: Raspberries

What is the best salad dressing?
Balsamic vinegar, olive oil, basil, oregano and parmesan cheese

What is your favorite thing to put on toasted bread?
Strawberry Jam

What kind of soup do you most often turn to on a chilly day or when you aren’t feeling your best?
On a sick day I love tomato soup and mac and cheese... weird I know.

One of my favorite soups I've ever made was this Cheddar Vegetable Soup. Ohh my lord its AMAZING

What is your favorite cupcake flavor? Frosting flavor?
I'm not gonna lie the cupcake trend is driving me nuts! I'm sick of cupcakes.

Whoppie Pies are my new love. I love pumpkin whoopie pies with cream cheese frosting.

What is your favorite kind of cookie?
Plain ole chocolate chip. Hot out of the oven of course.

What is your most-loved “weeknight meal”?
Theres so many I love to make. I love trying out new recipes so I dont eat most things more than a couple times. My favorites that I cant stop making are tofu parmesan and 3 bean tacos. I dont think I've posted about either one of these. I'll have to get on that cause they are amazing. Even my omni boyfriend loves them!

What is one dish or food you enjoy, but can’t get anyone else in your household to eat?
Morgan is on board with most things I make. He hates onions tho... I can sneak onions into some dishes but others he can definitely tell and he will eat around the onions. Ive been blessed with a non picky boyfriend! Thank god!

How long, in total, do you spend in the kitchen on an average day?
Depends on the day... working 2 jobs has limited my cooking days/ times. Sometimes we dont eat till 930/10 at night! yikes!

i am so excited for the new year! i have so many plans, so many things i want to start doing and doing better! my number one thing is start decluttering and beautifying my home! i also want to start taking better care of myself... im pretty good at working, i really enjoy my boxing and yoga classes. i havent been in about 2 months tho... the holidays are always so hectic for me. so starting next week its back to boxing once a week, yoga twice a week and cooking yummy, healthy meals for me! im excited... i cant wait to start this new year... 2011 is going to be fabulous!

im so excited its christmas time!!! every year i have chritmas eve dinner and presents with my mom... this year we are making stuffed shells and lasagna and im making an apple pie (yippie)

then christmas morning i wake up semi early and head to my dads. we make breakfast, watch a christmas story all day long and open presents. be bums and hang out for a while, then head over to my aunts house to celebrate with the rest of the fam. i cant wait!!!

but now i must head out to gather ingredients for my first homemade apple pie. i am excited but im not gonna lie im a bit nervous... im not the best baker. wish me luck. happy holidays guys :)

This recipe, I believe, is the first recipe I ever made by myself. I borrowed it from my mom (not sure where she found it exactly) and cooked the entire meal all by myself, I was very proud! Its always been one of my favorite things to make. I am a pescitarian and i rarely eat seafood, so when im in the mood for some shrimps this is my go to recipe. It has all of my favorites, tomato, feta cheese and pasta! WINNER!

This recipe has also been my go to recipe when I cook for anyone for the first time. I don’t know why, it just is. So last year around this time when morgan and i started dating I asked him if he wanted to come over and id cook him dinner. As we text back and forth I was super excited to cook this meal. The longer we text I realize he is no fan of tomatoes. I almost died! What in the hell am I gonna cook for him! (like its the only recipe I know haha) long story short I ended up cooking him some other shrimp dish (i didnt get a photo of that dinner. im sure the weirdo in the kitchen taking pictures of her food would’ve scared him off for sure haha)

anywho after a year of making morgan eat veggies meals week after week he finally started liking tomatoes. (im still working on getting him to like onions) so this year for his bday I made him my tomato, shrimp and feta pasta. He said and I quote “im so mad at myself for not letting you make that last year” haha too funny hu!

its super easy to make too!!

youll need 1tsp olive oil, 3/4tsp oregano, 1/2tsp salt, 1/4tsp red pepper flakes, 1lb shrimp, 3 garlic cloves, 1/2cup dry white wine, 3cups plum tomatoes, 3/4cup crumbled feta, 4cups cooked linguine, 1/4cup minced fresh parsley

saute olive oil through garlic on med/high heat for about 3 minutes and spoon into an 11x7 baking dish.

add the wine to the skillet and cook over low heat for about 3 minutes, stir in tomatoes.

pour that over the shrimp and sprinkle with cheese and bake at 350° for 10 minutes.

serve over pasta and sprinkle with parsley.

ohh my is this dish amazing!! i really wonder where my mom got the recipe... she found it forever ago!!

happy halloween... i had such an awesome halloween weekend! it was the boyfriends bday on thursday (the 28th) so we celebrated and hung out with friends all weekend for both occasions! i have to go through all my photos and ill post some fun ones later! happy monday :)

sweet and sour tofu

a couple weeks ago i was watching my good friends little girl for the day and while she was napping i came across the show called "cook yourself thin". ive never seen it before but i really liked it. their recipes look pretty yummy. they take your favorite foods and show you how to modify the recipes to be healthier. the lady on this particular show loved sweet and sour pork. the modified recipe looked really yummy. so i jumped online to jot down the ingredients. i dont eat pork so i substituted tofu instead.

its a pretty simple recipe... there are 2 sauces, one sauce to marinate the tofu and the other is a sweet and sour sauce you mix in at the end. i followed the directions to a T when it came to the veggies but you can mix and match anything you'd like in my opinion. i took a red pepper, green pepper and a red onion chopped them in large chunks and sautéed them just until they became a little tender... still a little crunchy. add the marinated tofu and the sweet and sour sauce to the pan, sauté for a little longer and viola your finished! it was so so delicious! the only thing i did differently is that i doubled the recipes for both of the sauces. i like a lot of sauce on my meals!

the photos not the best... my dad called me right as i was about to take photos and give boyfriend his food. so i took a quick photo or 2 and started grubbing (yes while is was still on the phone with the pops) haha

it was really yummy! i think maybe ill try it with shrimp next time!

ohh and one more thing... if you like tuna check out the "recipes from this episode" section to the right of the screen... the portobello mushroom tuna melt looks amazing. im definitely trying that one soon!

boobie lovin night

a couple weeks ago i attended the second annual boobie lovin night! its a breast cancer benefit for a family friend to raise money so her and her team can attend the susan g koman 3 day walk.

its held at a local night club called blur. they have food, raffles and a costume contest. this year we dressed up as the boobie lovin fairies. we won 3rd place. we are already thinking of costume ideas for next year!

you might have seen my post about my feather headband idea for my bday. i had a blast making them and cant wait to make more! i made a bunch so all of my friends had a headband to wear during the festivities.

boyfriend and i stayed at the CUTEST hotel on st pete beach called the postcard inn. it has a surfer chic theme. very simple, very cute! me, the boyfriend and 2 of my friends relaxed by the pool all day.

shawn smith... he uses hand dyed strips of wood to create sculptures that look pixilated...

this is michael alm... i havent been able to find a lot of info on him but from what i gather he is concerned about endangered species... this side of his art is his take on protecting these animals. he creates synthetic taxidermied animals. he uses faux furs, clay, dyed feathers and wood.

about a month ago the boyfriend, a couple friends and i went to an event called the 1st annual graffiti throwdown. they had graffiti artists, a couple djs, finger painting and a band. the artist were tagging a huge wall and they also had a couple "graffiti models" that were getting painted throughout the night. it was very different and very fun. it was held at a bar/hookah lounge called The Bar in downtown st pete, they had a huge courtyard behind the bar where most of the music/painting was held. i was so glad we had the bar to go into because at one point in the night it got so hot out that we needed to go inside! we hung out indoors for about an hour and shared a vanilla flavored hookah. cant wait for the 2nd throwdown for sure!

i work two jobs and dont get home till 8 on some nights so i like to find easy yummy recipes to throw together so im not eating dinner at 10 at night. which im not gonna lie happens way too often!

so you take one small white onion and 2 small squash cut into small chunks and sauté till tender. add 2tsp garlic, 2tsp cumin, 1tsp coriander and cayenne pepper to taste. then add one 28oz can of diced tomatoes. stir together and let simmer for about 5 minutes. right before serving stir in a thawed bag of frozen edamame and viola its done! serve over couscous!

i cant wait to make this again! the recipe i used is here. now after rereading this recipe i just realized i forgot about the cilantro and lemon juice! oops, ill have to add that next time. hey, i was in a hurry cause burn notice was on! i cant miss burn notice! i love that show way too much!

ohh my goodness i am such a slacker! i just realized its been almost a month since i last blogged! i feel like i am so busy all the time but i really dont feel like i get much accomplished! haha

i still dont have much to say for the time being... im still in rush mode but ive been on and off again about getting my septum pierced and i cant decide if i should do it or not. i think im just kinda nervous about how much it would hurt! what do you think?

i talked to the boyfriend about it, he didnt seem too thrilled that i was thinking about getting it done and the sister says "grow up" she says im too old for that! ehh whatever sister ill always be young at heart... and p.s. i am not even close to being old... i turn 28 next month. im thinking about getting done for the bday

we went out on a random friday night to the dunedin brewery and there was an awesome local band playing... sarge and the aeromen... it was a really fun, relaxing night out after a long work week!

i feel like there is a huge cloud over my head today. i feel very overwhelmed with all the drama surrounding me. thank god this drama has nothing to do with my personal life... with both of my jobs i feel surrounded by unnecessary drama. its really getting to me and today i just feel drained! the good thing is that i get out of work in a few hours! im going to hot yoga to get some me time, relax time in then boyfriend is bringing dinner and wine over so we can have a relaxing night! AND... i took tomorrow off!! yippie! ill most likely get up early with the mister for our morning run then see him off to work. then who knows... be a bum for a bit, definitely get some cleaning in and finish my laundry. i really cant wait! ive never been so excited to clean! ohh speaking of yoga i was looking at weheartit.com and found this

i ran across a design blog, from the right bank, today and she is having a "whats your style in one image" challenge. i found this very intriguing. ive found many photos over the years of homes ive fallen in love with.

at the moment id have to say this photo is by far my favorite...

im not even sure if its a home, im thinking a spare guest room off the side of a house. either way, i could definitely see myself living here. it reminds me of a tree house. i love nature and being outside. im not sure where i found this photo and its the only one i have of the space but i imagine the inside being very open and cozy. and who can resist the rope bridges!

for the past two weeks ive been so, so, so tired! so on sunday i did NOTHING all day long! i was the ultimate bum! it was so lovely! i took naps... watched the man v. food marathon on the travel channel... and stuffed my face with mac and cheese and citrus sorbet! i really needed a serious lazy day!

i wish it wasnt monday, i wish i could repeat sunday all over again. unfortunately i cant, i had to get back to the real world today. it was full of work and laundry and dishes. no fun! but im definitely not as tired this week! my lazy day worked and i am feeling refreshed for sure.

i dont get super bum days too often but this one was amazing!

ohhh food how i love you!

here are a few yum dishes ive made and one that i cant wait to try over again!

feta tomato omelet, potatoes and mimosas! this dinner was awesome

add some italian spices to the omelet... sauté up some onions and add salt and pepper to the potatoes and you have yourself an easy and delish breakfast for dinner!

veggie rancheros

cut up large chunks of your fav veggies... i chose zucchini, squash, red and orange peppers and onions... coat with olive oil and chili powder... cook in oven for 15 min, flip veggies then put back for 15 more minutes... put back into mixing bowl and coat with salsa

mix the veggies with corn and black beans and served it with a egg or two cooked however youd like... i prefer eggs over easy. this is a weird combo but really good!

this last one was pretty good... its an italian polenta casserole served with spaghetti squash

i wasnt a big fan of the pre made polenta that i bought... im going to make it from scratch next time.

this one is very simple too... i had a recipe for a polenta casserole but barely followed directions! haha

for this i put a layer of polenta at the bottom of the dish... next layered it with sautéed squash, zucchini, mushrooms, onions and garlic... then a layer of mozzarella and diced tomatoes... then repeat but skip the second layer of sautéed veggies. serve over the spaghetti squash. yum

here are a few of my bathroom must haves!

**lush is an awesome company... a hippy company... everything is hand made with vegetarian/organic products, uses little to no preservatives or packaging. some of the packaging is compostable. and they do not test on amimals!

karma komba solid shampoo... to make me smell like a hippy!

jungle solid conditioner

these are travel tins to put your lush products in... love them

**this brand is call boots, its from the UK... i buy it a target... i use a bunch of their products... they also use organic materials and do not test on animals! all of their products smell amazing! nothing too sweet and overpowering just light and fresh smelling!

this is their body scrubs... yum

their body cream is amazing too! i also use their face wash, toner and eye makeup remover... i highly recommend all of their products!

**preserve is another lovely company i am obsessed with... ive been using their toothbrushes for years and i recently bought a razor. this company uses recycled yogurt cups to make all of their products and when your done you can go to their website, print out a label and mail your toothbrushes and razor handles back to be recycled! AND if no one recycles #5 plastic (yogurt containers, hummus tubs) in your area you can mail that to them too! how exciting

** i dont think i could ever go back to using regular toothpaste or mouthwash after switching to toms of maine... and to continue with the pattern of this post... they use high quality natural ingredients, no artificial ingredients or preservatives and no animal ingredients or animal testing! whoo hoo

**and for my last must have bathroom product... kiss my face patchouli deodorant! to complete my hippy smellyness! haha love it! and it works really well too

i busted my bum this week... i ate super healthy, went to boxing on tues and thurs and did hot yoga on wed. i am so ready to let loose over the weekend!

saturday ill be heading to downtown st pete with the mister to check out an awesome band... the aquabats... then most likely head to some groovy dive bar afterward! maybe the emerald or im kinda digging a fairly new bar called fubar. i dont know the exact plans all i know is that im ready to be out of work! i probably wont get too crazy i have to wake up fairly early on sunday, i just wanna hang out with the mister, have a few drinks and dance a bit! thats all...

then for mothers day my sister and i are heading to tampa for lunch... my mother is working this sunday so we are celebrating with her on tuesday! but sunday my sis and i are going to a restaurant in hyde park called 717 south. one of her friends is the head chef there. sister says its really good and ive been wanting to try it! all i know is ill be having a couple mimosas! after lunch im gonna head to the tarpon springs farmers market to meet up with the mister for a bit. hang out for a bit... maybe get some coffee, pick up some yumE veggies for the week. all in all i think it will be a lovely weekend! cant wait to get started!

i took a couple days off from my full time job (awesome)... the weather is so lovely i would love to be outside more but i really need to get stuff done around the house.
today i had to take my bestie, jenn, to the airport... then i went to visit the mister at work. then off to the house to tackle some dishes and laundry.
tomorrow i have to clean the entire house... kinda dreading it but ill be excited after its done! nothing is better than a freshly clean house! wish me luck!
thursday im helping the bf move then work my part time job at 5... so probably no outside activities for me this mini vaca! these are what id love to be doing tho...

i use to be really good about working out... every week boxing on tuesdays, hot yoga on wednesdays... i was fellin really good and getting pretty strong!

then i got sick... then i was a super bum and about a month later... damn, i need to start working out again!

SO this monday AM i went for a run... then back to my usual boxing on tues and hot yoga on wed

ummmm i vow to NEVER skip out on my work outs ever again! i got home from yoga tonight and my body hurts so, so bad! haha

so ive decided to treat myself to champagne wednesday....

so this past friday i got to see the misters band live for the first time... when i met morgan his band went on a little hiatus while searching for a bassist. well they finally found one and scheduled a gig!!! yippie for me

hahaha ok for the longest time i have decided to NOT venture over to weheartit.com cause that is not what i need in my life... another reason to spend all my time searching the internet.

well the other day i was working my part time job... at a cigar shop... and it was a pretty slow saturday so i went online... found myself clicking that damn link to weheartit.com!

dont get me wrong that website rocks! but i love photography too much as it is and now i can spend FOREVER looking at all sorts of amazing photos! i already am a busy chick who spends too much time on the interweb!

a couple years ago i went to orlando to see an exhibit featuring the street artists tes one, bask and parskid. what an amazing show! i wanted to take everything home with me!

first thing first... seven randoms about me...

1) i cant seem to type properly. i hate using capital letters and rarely use proper punctuation. not sure why but its only on the computer! i right perfect (well i try) english when im at work or writing letters! weird

2) i went to the renaissance festival a couple weeks ago and the guy selling pickles called me a hippie goth... i liked it!

3) one of my bestest friends, jenn, lives in VA and i just booked my trip to go see her in july. ill be gone for 7 days! 7 days of relaxing and hanging out with my girl! is it july yet?

4) my sister and i run the front office of a physical therapy company. i see her at the minimum 5 days a week and we usually end up hanging out on the weekends. i dont know what id do if we didnt live near each other!

5) im sure people would like to know why in the hell the word twat is in the title of my blog... the truth... i love the word! thats pretty much it. i like the fact that people dont judge me for it either. well not yet, not to my face. i like that people still venture over to my blog even though im sure some dont like the word. i dont find it offensive and i guess in that way im trying to get people to embrace the word! hehe

6) im a food snob. i love good food with minimal chemicals... i try to buy only organic... and i dont mind spending money on it. i spend most of my paycheck at the grocery store haha. if your going to put something in your body it might as well be the best quality and organic, no? i guess i can say i spend more money to take care of my body now instead of spending it on medical bills in the future! hopefully that pans out for me! =P

7) i have a sewing machine. not super exciting news but the random fact about this one is that ive had it for about 3 years now and i have no idea how to sew... ive NEVER used it! when i got it i only had one job but now with 2 jobs plus life... things tend to get busy which leaves me with little spare time. my goal is to teach myself how to sew within the next couple months! i have faith i can accomplish this! wish me luck

the BF and i love mac and cheese and ive been dying to try to make a homemade version! sooo last night i tried... and failed miserably! haha the mister says it was pretty good but i hated it! im a lets wing it kinda gal when it comes to cooking. i ALWAYS add more ingredients or forget something and have to improvise. im quite a mess in the kitchen but as ive said before i have fun while being that mess so its ok!! haha well i used the wrong size dish and didnt think about the fact that the bread crumb topping was for a larger dish! to say the least it was more of a bread crumby mac and cheese... EWWW! too many bread crumbs is not the same as too much cheese or too many veggies! its just plain no bueno!all i can say is that for my next try at the mac and cheese it will be bread crumbless!!! haha

...anywho...

so last night was a eat up all the veggies before they go bad night... which is always a fun night cause i get to be creative instead of just follow a recipe (not that i follow recipes to the t... but still). im a pretty silly and crazy cook but on these nights i look a bit nutty in the kitchen, running around adding last minute spices or random ingredients. the mister is always laughing at me when im in the kitchen. whatever, i have fun! hehe i steamed up all the cauliflower and broccoli i had, sauteed up the rest of the squash and zucchini, tossed that with alfredo sauce (store bought... i really need to work on making my own) and served it with pasta! yum yum yum the cauliflower/ alfredo combo is so amazing! i will definitely be making that again!

on sunday we headed over to downtown dunedin again to check out the crafts festival that they held this weekend. i didnt pull out my camera so no fun pics of the mister being silly but it was a super fun day! we started off at flanagans for an irish lunch (fish and chips for me and shepherds pie for the mister) and some beers (delish)! after lunch we headed out into the streets to check out all the craftyness. this arts and crafts fest was HUGE! i loved every minute of it, AND it was a gorgeous day outside. MY GOODIES i picked up 4 cute and yumE smelling candles 2 mixes... a beer bread mix and a pumpkin pancake mix and the mister bought me a small blue ceramic colander (its the cutest thing)

i had the most fabulous valentines day! (dont mind the camera phone photos, my sister has my camera) OUR ADVENTURES ON VALENTINES DAY first we set out for the tarpon springs sponge docks. on the way there we found the tarpon springs sunday morning farmers market! exciting stuff... now ive found a place to buy fresh veggies each sunday! YES (i work during most farmers markets in the area so i never get to go!) we got coffee and walked around for a few... then off to the sponge docks... we walked around some more... went to my favoritest soap shop, bought some yummy smelling soaps and an assortment of sponges for the bath. went to the candy shop (which was super exciting... i was literally a kid in a candy shop haha) and got the mister a pirate tshirt. then we went to this yummy greek restaurant to grub on flaming cheese and sip on a delicious sangria. we had a couple hours to kill and didnt want to go home so we headed off to dunedin to grab a brew at flanagans irish pub hung out there for a couple hours talking and sipping... ...then it was time for our reservation at stonechase grill in tampa (my favorite restaurant EVER) and had a lovely dinner (with more sangria) then headed to see the wolfman (really awesome movie btw) to say the least i was super tired after the movie! it was such an exciting fun filled day! i wish every sunday was just like it!

so i caught myself a lovely virus on my laptop last week. that was fun!! i did a system restore and everything is fine now. which is very exciting! one, because its gone & two, because i had no clue what i was doing when i set out to get rid of the damn thing but after about a day of researching online and trying this and that! the system restore was the thing that finally work! whoo hoo NOW i am determined to wipe my hard drive (i would love my lappy to be fresh and clean) BUT for some reason a couple minutes into the process the damn computer shuts itself off! i dont know, theres always some obstacle when it comes to things i want to accomplish! ill get it eventually. im no computer nerd by any means... i am strictly self taught when it comes to my computer knowledge (trial and error mostly) but id like to think of myself as a bit computer savvy. i am determined to get this done! i just like to know i can do it on my own... i have this super independent woman thang going on! haha well wish me luck at tackling this!

i got my first comment from someone i DONT know... exciting stuff! haha i love recycling, i believe its just something we need to do. ever since ive started recycling my motto is, if it can be recycled it will be recycled! well, ill be the first to admit i can get lazy sometimes! so my cute recycling bin (that my mom got me) starts to over flow sometimes. SOO today i spent the whole day cleaning and taking things out of the house and putting them into their proper bin. i am too too excited that my house is so clean right now. when the house is clean it just makes me smile, i feel so grown up! hahaha now im watching the TLC channel about amazingly tall children, surfing the internet and waiting for my friend katie to get off work so we can go get coffee and do some girly chatting.

so im on this new eat healthy kick. which means i drink a smoothie instead of coffee each morning for breakfast. i dont really miss the coffee too much until about 230/3 o'clock in the afternoon when my computer screen starts getting really foggy cause i cant seem to keep my eyes open! so i bought those new via instant coffee packets from starbucks to try, a friend said they are delish and she was so correct! i dont know how efficient it would be if i wasnt in my office (cause i love cream and sugar) but for an afternoon snack/ pick me up they are just wonderful. and taste amazing yikes, thats all i need... a new addiction! haha

so my adorable friend jenn left me again... if you recall back in march i helped her move to pensacola to be with her husband who is in the navy (go navy). well she was there for a couple months and in the beginning of july she moved back to tarpon (for a quick minute) before she moved to where her husband is stationed (virginia). well july has come and gone and my amazing friend has left! :( sad times, sad times BUT for the past month we have had awesome adventures! apricot beer and drag shows, sushi and ichiban, downtown tarpon and jacuzzis, starbucks, the mustache men, pasta fagioli, strokers and shock top (sqeeze my orange), FL-amingo tattoos.... many many more awesome times crammed into this past month. i love her and miss her mucho miss katie, myself and jenn and these are our FL-amingo tattoos jenns tan ass leg, my pasty white one and katie... cutie tattoos

its not that ive been a big ole slacker, ive just been super busy. between work, holidays (bdays and fathers day) and helping friends ive been so super busy i havent had time to think! all i want to do is cook an amazing meal and sit and watch tv... is that too much to ask! BUT thats not going to happen anytime soon cause tonight i have an hour and 45 minutes boxing and abs class, tomorrow i have to pack my bags to leave thursday afternoon for pensacola. jason gradautes A school (GO NAVY) on friday and katie and i are driving up for that AND to visit jenn. i am super excited to see them! barnes and noble is the devil (that i LOVE)... i spend way too much money at that store. ive recently bought a couple books im excited about. & if i can get a moment to breath ill one day be able to sit down and read them... wish me luck =P

ok one last thing before i go make dinner. i joined a boxing bootcamp!!hehe its super fun! its not hard core boxing or anything... we practice our punches on the bags and do a bunch of cardio. it kicks my ass! serious im so super tired of the gym, so i figured between boxing class, hot yoga and running the causeway i should get into pretty good shape! now i just need to stick with it! ive been sick for about a week now so hopefully ill be better by next week. thats when im going to get serious about getting my butt in shape! this will be fun! wish me luck

(blogging music: the new fightstar album.... get it!!! its fabulous!) internet connection is back! truth be told, its been back for a while! ive been feeling a bit sluggish lately so ive been a lazy lazy bum ive been fixing up my kitchen since october. my dad put in new cabinet doors, new countertops and he just tiled the back splash last week... old kitchen: closer to being done kitchen: i obviously need new appliances (oneday), we are doing new lighting and there is one cabinet door that is still being ordered but its getting there. its going to be fabulous! i cannot wait for it to be done. im so sick of my kitchen being on my dining room table! alrighty im out of my sluggish mode but im tired so thats all folks... ill write more later
